Art is another extension of me, a way to express and center myself.
And I want to share that with you to connect you to yourself though the simple act of coloring.
But also to help you take action and stay focused on your own personal goals.
Frankly, I was bored by the same old planners and never finding a style that I liked and creating my own made it so much more personal.
Imagine sitting in a hospital room and watching your son fighting for his life. Hooked up to machines to help him breathe, because he can’t do it on his own. Connected to IV’s to maintain a medically induced coma because the infections are too much for him to handle.
The doctors talk to you and assure you they are doing everything they can, but that it really is up to him and the higher power.
There is nothing you can do, to help him feel better, other than just talk to him, hoping he can hear you and to keep up the fight. And the only other thing you can do is to sit and watch with hope and faith, that one day he will walk out of that hospital.
But then you pick up a pen and some paper, and you start to draw and doodle for hours on end and you realize that this is helping you calm your thoughts, relief your stress and helps you unplug from everything that is going on in your world.
That was me in 2008, after my son received his liver transplant and it helped me cope with the really hard days, when I didn’t know how much more I could handle – let alone how much my son could endure.
And what was once a way for me to deal the harsh reality of life and death, has turned into a passion and creating coloring pages (books and planners) has become an essential part of my life.
And there are some amazing things I learned along the way, and I hope that my hand drawn pictures will do the same for you.
